2027 Hyundai Kona

2027 Hyundai Kona

Stop-and-go on the 401, a 400-series run north for the weekend, and unplowed side streets once the snow settles: Ontario drivers ask a compact crossover to handle all of it. The 2027 Hyundai Kona is built for that mix of tight parking and highway miles. It stretches 4,350 mm long, rides on a 2,660 mm wheelbase, and holds 723 L of cargo behind the rear seats.

Five trims make up the Canadian lineup: Essential, Preferred, Preferred Trend, Luxury and N Line Ultimate. Four use a 2.0 L four-cylinder with 147 hp, while the N Line carries a turbocharged 1.6 L four-cylinder with 190 hp. All-wheel drive is standard on three trims and available on the other two. Inside, a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is part of the picture, and the sections below cover the design, technology, powertrains and trims.

What’s new on the 2027 Hyundai Kona?

Exterior

The Kona is a compact crossover with a low, wide stance, and each trim dresses it a little differently. The Essential keeps a clean look on 17-inch aluminum wheels. Roof rails and rear privacy glass start at the Preferred, which also moves up to 18-inch wheels. The Preferred Trend and Luxury add premium dark grey body cladding and chrome window belt moulding, plus a wide power tilt-and-slide sunroof. The N Line takes a sportier road. It has its own front fascia and grille, a rear bumper with a diffuser, and N Line emblems on the grille and fender. Body-coloured cladding replaces the dark grey, and two-tone paint is available on this trim only. The N Line stands slightly taller and longer than the rest, at 4,385 mm long and 1,615 mm high, and rolls on 19-inch aluminum wheels. The other trims measure 4,350 mm long, 1,825 mm wide and up to 1,610 mm high. Ground clearance reads 170 mm on front-wheel-drive versions and 205 mm with all-wheel drive, rising to 210 mm on the N Line. For snowbelt back roads across Ontario, that extra height matters. Full-line LED daytime running lights and LED turn signals set into the headlights and taillights mark the Luxury and the N Line.

Ventilated front seats belong to the N Line alone, and the Luxury and N Line add an 8-way power driver’s seat and 64-colour ambient lighting. Dual-zone automatic climate control begins at the Preferred Trend. The cabin seats five. Rear legroom measures 970 mm and rear headroom 972 mm, with 1,402 mm of rear shoulder room. Rear seats fold 60/40, and a dual-level cargo floor is standard on every trim. Cargo volume grows from 723 L with the seats up to 1,803 L with them folded. Two USB-C outlets sit in front and two in the rear, which suits a back seat full of phones on a commute.
