Introduced this summer, the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe has been improved in every way. The global debut of the Santa Fe provided ample details on the improved versatility and technology of the new Santa Fe, but we didn’t have all of the details about the powertrains and the versions. Earlier in November, Hyundai confirmed both the engine lineup for the Canadian 2024 Santa Fe while also showcasing the most rugged trim in the lineup, the 2024 Santa Fe XRT. Let's take a closer look at this exciting new addition to the Santa Fe family before exploring the engine lineup.
The 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe XRT
The Santa Fe XRT is a sporty and rugged model based on the top-of-the-line Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy trim. It features a unique design that includes dark chrome and black trim elements and cladding for a bold and distinctive appearance. The XRT also comes with black roof rails and crossbars, adding to the SUV's sporty aesthetic. The Santa Fe XRT sits on 30-inch all-terrain tires wrapped around 18-inch wheels, giving it a commanding and robust stance.
One of the most notable features of the Santa Fe XRT is its extra 1.5 inches of ground clearance. This height boost allows it to handle tough terrain with ease and gives drivers the confidence to go off-road and explore. The XRT is also capable of towing ATVs or a camper, with a maximum towing capacity of 4,500 pounds.
Powerful, Efficient Turbo and Hybrid Engines
The 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe will feature a lineup of impressive engines at launch. The turbocharged 2.5 L direct-injected engine is the standard powertrain and delivers 277 hp and 311 pound-feet of torque, making the new Santa Fe one of the most powerful midsize SUVs in its category.
For those who want a more efficient option that is still very powerful, the 2024 Santa Fe will also be available with a hybrid engine. This hybrid powertrain features a 1.6 L direct-injected turbocharged gas engine paired with an electric powertrain.
